This biomechanical approach focuses on maintaining proper structural alignment so as to provide a stable framework for active muscle tissue to work from. A balanced spine and pelvis provides core stability which is a must for a fit and active body! Chiropractic adjustments can release joint restrictions, restore balance and range of motion while also addressing the basis of other disorders that affect nerves and muscles.
ART addresses muscle imbalances which can cause persistent stress on a joint and result in abnormal wear and tear on cartilage, ligaments and other soft tissue.
When faced with injuries such as strains, sprains, tears, collisions and other traumas the body responds with inflammation followed by laying down scar tissue. Prolonged muscle tension to guard and protect an injury reduces blood circulation and therefore deprives the tissue of oxygen and then promotes more scar tissue formation. As this scar tissue builds up the affected muscles become shorter, weaker, less pliable, less resilient and more prone to injury. This can also cause nerves to become trapped. With all of these things comes reduced range of motion, loss of strength, pain, tingling, numbness and general weakness. ART softens, stretches and breaks down scar tissue adhesions to restore the gliding motion between soft tissue structures. ART also increases blood flow, improves biomechanics and restores strength and function thus in order to to resolve injury.
In traditional Chinese medicine, the philosophy maintains that the body has a life circulating forced called Qi (Chee). Qi is comprised of two parts: Ying and Yang, opposites which if balanced, function well together.
A person’s health is influenced by the unobstructed circulation of this life force. If the flow of Qi along ”meridians” or channels is interrupted or imbalanced, the result is “dis-ease”.
Acupuncture points are specific locations where the meridians come to the surface of the skin, and by manipulating these points, balance and flow of Qi is restored.
At Mah Chiropractic, Dr. Mah uses acupuncture/acupressure to restore the flow of Qi to help relieve pain and tension while restoring proper function.
Accidents happen. Here at Mah Chiropractic Clinic we like to work with our patients to treat pain and discomfort associated with MVAs.
If you’ve been in an accident, contact your insurance company to obtain the appropriate forms in order that your treatments can be direct billed to the insurance company. Bring the forms in to the clinic and we take it from there while you begin receiving treatments.
Dr. Mah is happy to provide assessment for orthotics. Orthotics can help balance the biomechanical inadequacies in your feet and legs and give you the support you need to move comfortably in your daily activities. Orthotics can be made to fit any shoe. You can even send in your favourite pair of runners and have them custom made to fit.
